Growing Tomatoes Organically

Homegrown tomatoes are a world away from bland supermarket fruits, no matter they’re common or heirloom. And growing heirloom tomatoes opens up a rainbow of possibilities, from Barry’s Crazy Cherry to Violet Jasper. Growing your own from seed to harvest in Melbourne will earn you serious gardening cred. Learn some tricks to help you achieve this, and meet the author of the brand new book on this subject, Tomato – Know, Sow, Grow, Feast.

Presented by Karen Sutherland

Karen’s first book, co-written with Penny Woodward, is a definitive book on growing heirloom tomatoes organically and is being released in October. Karen has over 30 years’ experience designing, planting and maintaining gardens, with special emphasis on edible and sustainable gardens. She grew up gardening, amongst a family of gardeners and farmers, and continues this family tradition, helping others to grow their own food, through her business Edible Eden Design. Karen is qualified in both horticulture and permaculture.
