Native edible companion plant class

Native Edibles for Companion Planting

Non-indigenous Australians are waking up to the amazing edible plants around us and wondering why we didn’t use them before! Knowing what will grow and also produce a harvest, as well as how to use it, is difficult as most of us aren’t yet familiar with Apple Berries or Native Mint. In this class you’ll learn how to incorporate some easily grown edible native plants into your garden so that they work in harmony with your existing plants, as well as a variety of ways to use these plants in your kitchen.

Presented by Karen Sutherland

Karen of Edible Eden Design, has more than 30 years’ experience designing, planting and maintaining gardens, focussing on edible and sustainable gardens after training in horticulture and permaculture.  She grew up gardening and growing food, in a family of gardeners and farmers. Karen now helps other to grow their own food through her consulting, design and teaching work, as well as designing and installing bush food gardens. She writes for Organic Gardener and Green Magazine and co-authored an award winning book on tomatoes, and is also writing a book on native food plants. She speaks regularly on radio 3CR.
