Product Details

This form of native river mint is similar to chocolate mint in flavour and aroma and is the most commonly available form.

Australia's own native mint, this plant makes an aromatic hot herbal tea or a chilled summer drink in a jug with ice. The traditional Indigenous Australian use of this plant is to relieve headaches, by crushing and inhaling the leaves of this plant. It can also be used to relieve a stuffy nose. I grow this plant on my nature strip in Melbourne (see sign in pictures) so its easy to share!

NOTE: Native river mint, Mentha australis, is deciduous in colder weather, so plants will have few leaves when purchased between May and September. Plants can be left unpruned until new leaves sprout in spring, or you can cut off half the height, retaining the stems and last leaves to use fresh or dried as tea, in cooking, etc.
