A truly garden worthy edible native plant. I have grown this rare cultivar in my Melbourne garden for many years and all plants for sale are cuttings of this plant. This cultivar was developed over a 10 year period (not by me) for its large soft palatable leaves. This is an evergreen shrub to approx. 1.5 m wide x 1.5 m high, and although it prefers full sun , will grow in partial shade. It is extremely drought tolerant and also salt tolerant so good for a grey water system garden. The plants have attractive ornamental foliage. The photos do not do the plant justice, the leaves have an almost metallic silvery sheen to them. Use dried and crumbled leaves in cooking to impart a salty taste. Use fresh leaves in salads, add to slow cooked dishes or wrap meat for grilling. Fry to make a tasty garnish.
