Seaberry saltbush (Chenopodium candolleanum, Rhagodia candolleana)
Product Details
Evergreen sprawling shrub to 1.5 m high and 1.5 m wide or larger. Can climb over other
plants so prune regularly to avoid this. Can be used as a loose hedge. A mostly coastal
plant which grows in full sun or part shade.
- Red berries ripen to dark red-purple from summer to autumn and are sweet with a
- bitter middle around the seed. To enjoy fruit, place in your mouth and gently dissolve the
- sweet flesh, spitting out the bitter middle section.
- Leaves can be eaten cooked.
- Fruit and raw leaf tips have anti-viral properties.
The plant is supplied in a black tube pot.
Previously called Rhagodia candolleana
Plant orders are shipped via express post early in the week so the plant arrives in the best possible condition and is not left over the weekend in a transport depot.
Please unpack as soon as possible and water well.
Note: due to quarantine restrictions we are unable to post plants to Tasmania and WA.
